Integrative Therapy for Women in California: Where Science Meets Somatic Healing.

Beyond the "Anxiety" Label: A Personal Mission

Abigail Kira, an AAPI integrative therapist for women in California.

Hi I’m Abigail MA LMFT# 119629, the owner and lead clinician at Zyla Care. I founded this practice out of a personal desire to help other women after years of feeling dismissed by my own medical providers.

I didn't start out wanting to be a therapist. I started out wanting to be a researcher and I spent my first year in a PhD program learning how to diagnose, study, and understand the complexity of women's mental health from the inside out. But I kept running into the same wall: the women who needed help most weren't in research papers. They were in waiting rooms being told their thyroid condition was "just anxiety." They were grieving a pregnancy loss and being handed a pamphlet. They were high-achieving, high-functioning, and completely missed by a system that doesn't look closely enough.

I know this because it happened to me.

I've experienced pregnancy loss. I've had a thyroid condition that was mismanaged for years because clinicians kept attributing my symptoms to anxiety. I have high-functioning ADHD — and I was told, repeatedly, that that was anxiety too. Eventually, I stopped waiting to be seen correctly and started building something different.

That's why the Zyla Care method is what it is. Not coping skills handed down from a distance — but a clinician who knows how to look beyond the obvious, who understands that "anxiety" is often the wrong answer, and who will actually stay curious about what's happening for you.

Women deserve care that takes them seriously. That's the only reason Zyla Care exists.

The Zyla Care Method: Our Integrative Framework

If you’ve been to therapy before, you likely know the frustration of understanding why you’re anxious but being unable to stop the physical spiral in your mind and body. This happens because most traditional therapy is incomplete and most therapists stick to one modality or are generalists. At Zyla Care, we are specialized integrative therapists in California. We weave together evidence-based modalities to help you create a new neuronal pathway for your mind, a new felt experience for your body, and new behaviors to create new tangible outcomes in your life. The result: A total nervous system reset.

Reprocessing the Past (EMDR & IFS)

We don’t just manage symptoms; we clear the emotional and somatic "charge" of past wounds. Every therapist on our team is trained in a deep reprocessing modality—like EMDR or Internal Family Systems (IFS)—to turn off the nervous system's false alarms and release the trauma stored in the body.

Building Skills for the Future (ACT & CBT)

Healing the past is only half the battle. We integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other evidence-based cognitive tools to give you a concrete roadmap for boundaries, communication, and values-based living. We don’t just want you to feel 'better'; we want you to act with clarity and confidence.

A Therapy for Women, Built by Women

We don’t believe in 'neutral' therapy. Our clinicians operate from a Feminist Relational Frame, acknowledging the social and patriarchal pressures that contribute to a woman’s mental load. You aren't 'broken'; you are navigating a complex world, and we are here to help you find your voice within it.

Bridging the Gap Between Biology and Psychology

Mental health doesn't happen in a vacuum—it happens in a body with a reproductive system. Our team is specifically trained to understand the intersection of hormones and heritage. From the intense mood shifts of your cycle to the complex grief of pregnancy loss or the transition of menopause, we provide care that validates your biology instead of dismissing it.
